History:
Selen made her first appearance to the series in the side story "The Sun and the Moon." She first appeared in the side story making food for her adopted son, Darres. There's not much about her past, but there was some information mentioned in the side story was that she had a sort of special relationship with the previous Queen of Pheliosta She forgot to wash the lettuce again and Darres commented on how she forgot and she just laughed it off cheerfully. Selen continued the conversation saying that Darres might actually like the younger princess because she was planning to enroll him into the royal guards so that he could get merits. He was also turning seventeen soon. It was better than waiting. She first met him on the street and admired his sword skill. Eventually, she adopted him against his will. With that being said, there were rumours that she adopted Darres so that he could guard the daughter of the woman she cared a lot about. Selen didn't have a bad reputation with the House of Pheliosta, but she was downright terrifying when she wanted to be. She went to speak to Sir Keld about it and eventually Darres wandered. While she was arguing with Sir Keld about Darres' merits, the guards came in panicking about the missing princess, again.

Selen along with the other guards went to find the younger princess and they come to the scene with the fountain being blown up and Darres curled up in a ball with Ishtar wrapped around his neck. Selen was relieved for the both of them and they learned one of the legsaram charms broke and caused the undead to come out of the fountain. Darres tried to save Ishtar and ended up fighting them all. The story progressed to Ishtar being cleaned up and sat down in the throne room. Selen addressed that Darres was going to be her bodyguard and Sir Keld freaked out. Ishtar on the other hand liked the idea and told the whole room that Darres was going to be her bodyguard and in the end Selen's plan worked in her favour as Sir Keld was speechless. Several years later, Selen made an official appearance in volume 13 when she came back from a campaign. She greeted everyone and struck conversation until Ishtar came and angrily demanded Selen to report to her. Selen proceeded to have a meeting with Ishtar and she gave a long winded report on her campaign. Ishtar ended up sleeping halfway through the meeting and Selen told Sir Keld to leave her be. Sir Keld was going to yell at her, but Selen had stopped him with previous comment. She asked to burrow her foster child instead. She took Darres out to talk with him and the mother and son had a long talk about their current statuses, marriage proposals and what nots. Selen tried to be a good mother to her son, listening to his problems. They ended up conversing through the evening with wine.

The following day, Selen, Galahad and Vord went to Rezenia. During Rezenia they escorted Vord there so they could use the library to find a cure for Falan's current comatose state. While Vord and Yujinn were spent their time in Rezenia's library trying to find a cure for Falan, Selen was with Galahad and meeting with his father. She came into the scene claiming monsters were attacking and that she was going fight them. She encouraged Galahad to go with her and race to the top and the last person was a rotten egg. Galahad's dad questions Selen's reasoning for having to treat this excursion like game and Selen laughed and said that he had it right and that she would get bored otherwise. Galahad and Selen then headed to their location after Galahad said they would take a look. As the two of them approached the scene, Vord and Yujinn were already there to help people. Selen commented on how the party started without them. Galahad talks about how strange it was that there were so many zombies and there needed to be a really strong sorcerer to animate that many corpses. Selen agreed about their strings being pulled and that the puppet master wasn't around. She wondered if Galahad had seen the puppeteer. As Yujinn and Vord struggled, Galahad and Selen finally rolled in to help. They told the boys to take a breather while the two adults would take it from here. She said they couldn't let the boys have all the fun. Vord was confused and questioned why she was saying that until he realized that they might have been there for a while.

Selen smiled and said that there was no reason why they waited, not denying the fact that they were there watching the fight break out. Vord was continuously being strung around by Selen, confused and frazzled while Yujinn left to check the status of the cast, thanks to Galahad. Yujinn inspected the castle and the battle goes on for some time. Eventually, another fast forward to the next day in which Selen and Galahad were having a conversation about Lassen and Yujinn. she talked about how different the two were and how they were led to their current states. Galahad asked her how she could explain Darres and that she couldn't possibly mess him up. Selen laughed it off and said she didn't know why. She didn't know and that she was scared when she took him under her wing. She thought that she might have screwed him up. What did she know about raising kids? She was a knight, and a soldier.

Galahad then commented on how well he was raised and that who would have thought that a street urchin would one day be the King of Pheliosta. He told her that she was doing it right and that they were going to be royal stepparents as a joke. Selen laughed about it as they continued on until they were interrupted and were given something important. The story progressed to the final arc where Vord was seen escorted out of the throne room because he threatened the king with a sword because Yujinn was killed by the King. Ishtar rushed up to Selen as she and Galahad were walking in and Ishtar shouting at Selen who said that that drawing his sword in the throne room was a bad idea. Ishtar then freaked out until Selen said that he was under the custody of Galahad's dad, so he would be safe regardless. Ishtar seemed even more distressed than she was earlier and Selen was trying her best to calm the princess down. Selen then commented about how Vord was the son of the current King of Rezenia.

Ishtar further broke down and said she didn't know what was going on anymore and while Ishtar was sobbing her eyes out, Selen shouted at Darres saying that she knew that Yujinn was his best friend but he was going to have to pull it together and figure out what their next step was, since the situation turned for the worse. Selen said that Yujinn always talked about him and that they've been through a lot together and Darres sighed and questioned it while making a pained expression. Darres then talked about how great Yujinn was with magic and that he was an amazing strategist on top of that. Selen just smiled at him as Ishtar said that he was also going to be King. Darres was prepared to do something about all of this. During their meeting with the King, Ishtar and him had an argument about Yujinn's innocence and on the way out, she was met by Hume, who told her that Duzell was held captive. With that being said, she proceeds to attempt to save him with the help of Darres. Selena and Galahad tagged along as defense just in case something happened. They were making their way up to the tower and Selen tossed Darres a magic sword and said that he would have use for it because they were fighting vampires on their way up.

Ishtar and Darres then separated Selen. Selen then separated from Galahad as he faced off Illsaide. On top of that, Vord comes out of the hallway looking like a wreck and jumping on Selen's case about how she was leaving them all alone. Selen said that they were doing something along the lines of saving him instead of Duzell as a cover up and stating that Galahad was with them. She also reminded Vord that Darres knew his way around a sword. Vord then commented on how Selen stated that he couldn't take care of himself and she said no, while implying yes. Vord noticed that Selen had Sidia with her and he tried to lecture her about Sidia. Selen explained that it was the last trump card they had. She said if anything were to happen to Ishtar, she could use this as a bargaining chip. Vord then takes the sword from her and saying that he was going to borrow it. Selen then got upset with him and said he couldn't even draw the sword, so what was he going to do with it? With all the events unfolding slowly, Selen stuck around to mediate the situation. Eventually, the King of Rezenia killed himself, Duzell had used La Gamme, and Ishtar and Darres were a wreck but it seemed like the gang had stopped the potential war that was about to break out between countries.

Five years later when Selen returned to Pheliosta on short leave She sent out mail to Galahad about her situation. She said that Ishtar had successfully given birth to two baby boys and that her hands were full. On top of that, she stated that he could come visit if she could convince Vord to come along for the ride so she could see Galahad. Afterwards, she was having fun looking at her step grandchildren, and enjoying their presence, while Ishtar and Sir Keld argued about the names of the babies. Selen then stated that it didn't matter what the names of the babies were because they would ultimately choose their own fate in the future. She side remarked that she wanted to retire her position because there was no need for two Generals and since her son didn't want to be king, there was no need for her to stick around. Darres argued that she was treating him like a kid again. While he was upset, Selen talked to Ishtar again about her children cheerfully.

Personality:
Selen comes off as a very cheerful and straight forward woman who often teases and riles those around her. She is well respected seemed to respect others all the same. She does have a knack for being rather sarcastic and silly when she wants to be. Selen is also good at poking nerves as she does with Ishtar. She doesn't do it intentionally, but it does come off that way and usually sets Ishtar off on her. Selen’s relationship with Ishtar is rather complicated. At times, she seems like she is a maternal figure for Ishtar but Ishtar depicts Selen as annoying and obnoxious as well as rude. Selen doesn't have much respect for Ishtar, but in a way, it’s something that Selen does that makes her more familiar with Ishtar. It’s also because of her affection towards the late queen. There was a hint in the series that there was an odd relationship with Selen and the late queen, so Selen felt obligated to protect the daughter of the woman she loved. Perhaps that is why Ishtar is treated the way she was treated.

Selen is a very maternal figure. She maybe behave outside of her age, but when things get really rough she tends to show her motherly side such as when she hugged Ishtar when she had a break down after Yujinn's death. Even though Selen is really easy going and friendly, she is also very complicated. Outside she seems to put on a front but there are times when she doubts herself and questions her life choices, especially when she decided to adopt Darres. Selen also tried her best to show Darres how much she loved him by doing all these little things for him. She really wanted her son to be a good person growing up since she had seen a lot of potential in him when she picked him off the streets. She strongly advocated for him to be part of the Royal Guards, and he was definitely a gifted swordsman. Selen is always unusually cheerful but sometimes behind those smiles, there is concern and worry. Fortunately, for Selen, her foster child grew up to be a rather prestige and respectful man. It’s not every day that she could tell people that her foster child was the current King of Pheliosta.

Especially, when she is concerned about Darres or Ishtar's safety. Selen is a prestigious knight, whom had served The House of Pheliosta for a long time. She was nicknamed the Dark Angel, because of her skills on the battlefield. Not to mention she is one of the few females in high ranking position within the Pheliostan Holy Knights. She doesn't like being treated with disrespect and she will be spiteful if anyone ever threatens her or her family. She had threatened to neuter someone when he was making fun of Darres when they passed by in the hallway and Selen's expression had become grim-- so grim that the person tried to distract her while running with his cape between his legs. Selen is very insistent. She doesn't change her mind once she's thought of something she wants. She just does it and enjoy the moment rather than dwell on things that will make her unhappy.

Selen loves a challenge. She likes to play games with monsters she has to kill. She even challenged Galahad to race with her to see who could fight the most monsters. She also would suggest a race to the top of a monster mountain. Selen is that kind of person, always so jolly and always very playful. She's crafty and intelligent. She's impeccable with the sword and there are people who fear her sword skills. Selen takes her job seriously but at the same time she can fool around as well. She's a very outgoing person, who attracts people to her when she talks. Selen is like the wind. She goes with the flow and seldom stops. When she is serious, she is very concentrated and her expression becomes very neutral. This is shown when she and Galahad talked about Yujinn and Lassen, how Yujinn’s mother’s kindness rubbed off on him and how Lassen’s late father led Lassen to destruction. Other personality traits about Selen is that she's very careless when it comes to hygiene of food. She forgets to wash the lettuce a lot and sometimes there might be worms in them and that makes Darres very uncomfortable.

She was definitely very insecure about that admitting to Galahad (her fiancé at that time) that she was afraid of screwing up someone's childhood. She also said she was a soldier and had no idea how to raise children. She did it on a whim. Selen is also good at keeping her emotions in check and only puts her foot down when she knows the situation has gone out of control. She's very passionate about her job and she occasionally gets herself into dangerous situations because of what she does for a living. Despite, always having a rather cheerful and happy exterior, she can be pretty responsible and trusting. Not once had she betrayed the people she served.

Dear Darres,

Good work the other day. We sure show those guys who's boss! Yesterday was very fun. Let's do that again soon! I'm itching to get some more practice out of these impractical abilities

Oh, I went to find food, but it looks like mum's got herself in a tight spot. Won't you be a sweetheart and come help me. I'm located on the forest not too far from where we live. Don't take too long, or the fun won't be there anymore.

Hurry here when you get this!

-Love,
Selen ♥

P.S. On a side note, make sure you take Galahad with you sweetie. He seems to get a little frazzled sometimes. I also need you to bring me something sharp enough to impale something. I seem to have misplaced my sword somewhere in the forest!~
